A visit to L’Orangerie

On recent trip to Paris, my dear friend Ophelia suggested that we visit L’Orangerie, a relatively small art gallery located . Housed within two eliptically shaped rooms, Monet’s xxxx provide a breathdatinkly peaceful experience, one which is unlike anything else I have experienced.
“Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
Upon entering the room through a non-descript anti chamber, you’re confronted by a room that is almost futuristic in its make up. Cool light seeps through from above, softly filtered through translucent white fabric. Large benches reside in the centre, occupied in every available space by tourists and other art admirers. Though designed to be a silent experience, chatter and discussion is widespread, and so I resorted to popping in some noise cancelling AirPods to reduce the aural distraction to a background hum.
Standing in front of those paintings, I found a certain sense of peace. Staring into the soft brushstrokes, I have to admit I found a sense of calm, a sense of quite contemplation. The desire to construct, and create, is one which is inherently human. We seek to create connection and leave evidence of ourselves long after we are gone. How beautiful is it, that long after his time, Monet’s desire to create a space of feeling and quiet contemplation is still being felt.
I sincerely recommend that if you’re in Paris, that you make the time to visit this gallery - you won’t regret it.
